Lydia Place Hearts for Housing 2023 | Impossible Choices
Created for Hearts for Housing 2022 this short animated piece and client testimonial show the emotional impact of the programs Lydia Place provides for families and individuals facing impossible choices.
The project combined animation with a real-life client testimonial to invite the audience to consider what the experience of homeless is like for families seeking assistance.
Lighthouse Mission Builds
How do you engage people to care? Lighthouse Mission takes on this communication challenge every day. To amplify the need, demonstrate mission’s impact, and motivate action towards their new fundraising efforts, Lighthouse Mission asked Veritas to help them craft 30-sec tv spots and 16 social videos. The social videos specifically could be rolled out over time, to bring attention to the purpose behind the new building, and educate the public on the specifics of the project in small, shareable chunks.

Skookum Stories 2022
Skookum Kids is a nonprofit that uses stories to change people's perceptions of foster care. In 2022, Skookum partnered with Veritas to capture and share these stories from within their community. Debuted at Skookum's fundraising gala—Eat, Drink, and Be Giving 2022, they helped showcase the impact and results of the nonprofit's work.
George and Jenn Siler stepped into the world of adoption through the encouragement and support of Skookum Kids.
Cami volunteers at The Landing and finds purpose in providing a safe place for kids in their transition into foster care.
2022 Light in the Night Gala
Lighthouse Mission wanted their 2022 fundraising gala to help attendees to experience the heart of what they do—connect with people and grow supportive relationships. The video solution was a set of three interview-based, storytelling pieces to be played throughout the evening.
These videos provided an introduction to the evening, a chance to celebrated the stories of several Lighthouse Mission guests, and a heartfelt call-to-action from Lighthouse Mission staff as well as CEO & President Hans Erchingler-Davis.
In the end, the Lighthouse Mission exceeded their fundraising goals and the evening was a great success!

Lydia Place 2022 Hearts for Housing Virtual Gala
In early 2022, Lydia Place partnered with Veritas Media to create a virtual fundraising event in lieu of an in-person gathering. Their spy-theme VIP event was premiered, allowing for an entirely pre-produced program, shot in our spacious, versatile studio with two-person chat style interviews and several direct-to-camera calls to action ahead.
This “like live” event launched through their chosen online platform on March 25, 2022 and helped Lydia Place raise over $220K to support and expand their services to homeless families in Whatcom County.
Rise and Shine Skagit 2022 Virtual Breakfast
The Boys and Girls Clubs of Skagit County brought us a unique challenge: to recreate an 80s-themed telethon for their annual breakfast fundraiser. The Veritas Media team walked them through creative planning and set design all the way to the final product, keeping within their vision and scope and taking full advantage of our versatile studio space. This event included live content from event hosts Ian Faley and Kristen Keltz; a re-created phone room in our corner set, and pre-produced content from the Boys & Girls Club played throughout the program as commercial breaks.
A great telethon always needs fun props and an enthusiastic staff!
Lydia Place 2021 Hearts for Housing Virtual Gala
For their largest fundraising event of the year, Lydia Place trusted Veritas Media to create a unique, engaging virtual experience. This event included live content with event hosts Emily O’Connor and Misha Collins; as well as pre-produced content shot in our spacious, versatile studio space. This event raised over $200k, welcomed attendees from over 50 countries, and has over 4k views.
This virtual event falls under our Live Premium tier, and includes several add-on options, such as the Premium Graphics package and pre-produced content created by Veritas.
Whatcom READS, “Washington Black”
Whatcom READS, an annual program by the Whatcom County Library System, approached us looking to create a video for their 13th annual selection of Washington Black by Esi Edugyan.
Their project had several messaging goals: promote the annual event, discuss the 2021 book and how it relates to society now, and encourage the audience to get involved. This video was shared on Whatcom READS channels as part of the READS Week virtual programming.
We interviewed 4 people in our studio for the project, and also created some minor animations featuring promotional illustrations by local artist Julie DeFoer.
Lighthouse Mission Ministries “Culture of Poverty”
Lighthouse Mission Ministries has a unique philosophy and approach to working with people experiencing homelessness. They were looking to ensure a consistent message was being delivered when training new staff & volunteers, and when presenting to stakeholders and other groups in the community. This training/educational video includes scripted delivery filmed in our studio, combined with custom animation & graphics.
MBT “Heart of the City” Support Video
In the wake of the pandemic, the Mount Baker Theatre had to close for over a year. With no income from shows, and memberships dwindling, the theatre faced the threat of permanent shutdown. We interviewed key staff and supporters to create this emotional piece to discuss what went on behind-the-scenes, and rouse excitement for reopening.
Skookum Kids Foster Stories
Since 2017, we've worked with Skookum Kids on their ongoing series, Foster Stories. Typically shot in a half day, we tell the story of someone who's experienced foster care: a family, volunteers, even kids. These stories share the realities of foster care, and showcase Skookum Kids as the incredible resource it is in our community!
Northwest Youth Services “Dine In To Make a Difference”
Working with Northwest Youth Services in 2020, their team challenged us all to reimagine the "virtual event" and what that could look like. Together, we created three episodes, collaborating with three different local restaurants. For each episode, "VIP" donors were gifted a boxes of ingredients and could cook along with the event hosts. This model made their virtual event feel closer to a hybrid, virtual/in-person experience.
Skookum Kids Eat, Drink & Be Giving Virtual Event
For the second year in a row, the Veritas team helped Skookum Kids facilitate a virtual version of their Eat, Drink & Be Giving fundraising event.
The 2021 event included the use of two sets: our blue seamless set, as well as our larger corner set with furnishings provided by Greenhouse. The scope of this project also included production in Ellensburg, WA to record a new Foster Care Story for Skookum's ongoing series. That video, Cara's story, was shared as a pre-produced segment in this event.
Community Action Skagit | 2020 Spirit of Hope Virtual Event
In October 2020, our team helped Community Action Skagit bring their annual Spirit of Hope event to a virtual format.
This contract included a "social snack pack" where we delivered two event promotional videos, a post-event thank you video*, and certain program segments as separate files from the live stream, so the Community Action Skagit team could share and promote them after the event. These additional assets helped the team maximize the value of their project, recruit a larger audience, and re-engage their donors and supporters after the event.
*We recorded three versions of a post-event video for their team to have on hand. One if they matched their goal, another if they exceeded their goal, and a third as a general thank you.
Also of note: in order to ensure a higher quality virtual interview, we were able to send a small crew to the home of Howard Behar, former Starbucks president, for his portion of the event program.

Children’s Museum of Skagit County – Live Stream Virtual Auction
We love when we get the chance to support nonprofits who are doing exceptional work in the community. As a father of two, this project, for the Children's Museum of Skagit County was especially exciting knowing the joy and wonder that this place sparks in my own kids' imagination.
This event, like so many others in 2020 was pivoted to an online and virtual format due to COVID-19. Instead of canceling the event, the Children's Museum of Skagit County leaned in and produced a live streamed auction that brought in much-needed donations to help to offset the financial toll taken by forced closures to the public.
The program feed that Veritas Media produced was broadcast live on Facebook and Vimeo—the Vimeo embed above was embedded on their event landing page.

Lydia Place – Handbags for Housing
The premier event in Bellingham, Handbags for Housing deserved the VIP treatment.
When Lydia Place came to us to solve the problem of how to make their premier fundraising event possible during COVID-19, we got creative and asked ourselves, "what could we do to engage their donors, maintain the ethos of the original event, and still raise a bunch of money for a great cause?"
After some workshopping and decisions about what was possible and how to make the most out of their budget, we decided that with the number of moving pieces, this event didn't make sense to do a live stream, as we had done for Art for Housing. We ended up opting for a hybrid event where the full program was pre-produced and set to Premiere on YouTube, however, event VIPs got access to an exclusive Zoom experience where they could interact with the emcee, watch the show together, and play games with other attendees.
The VIP Experience
Lydia Place is known for being masterful creators of fundraising events, and this year's Handbags for Housing was no exception. To give their most passionate followers an experience they wouldn't forget, they invited their VIPs to purchase a VIP pass. With the pass, they'd get a VIP box hand-delivered by Lydia Place volunteers with all kinds of goodies that was unboxed together in the pre-event VIP Zoom room.
On the Veritas side, we set Lydia Place up with a comfortable set for their emcee, Shannon Day, to host the VIP feed from. She could see the over 75 attendees in the VIP Zoom room and carry on a two-way conversation with any of them. Her image was piped into Zoom using our broadcast equipment and professional cameras and microphones.
At the end of the day the event was an incredible success and Lydia Place was able to raise a lot of money to support their organization. We look forward to partnering together on other virtual and in-person events in the future! Learn more about Lydia Place and the work they do in our community at LydiaPlace.org.
